This one is just so good. I've never been a great lover of still lives, since art school really, when we were forced to do such things in a very dull way. Being a bit of a rebel I always tried to make mine more "interesting" by adding surreal landscapes in the background ( going through a Dali phase at the time!) and "goo" seeping from apples and oranges etc. This used to irritate old Nell Jackson , the still life teacher, somethink awful!

I find it hard to get the subject just right. I like the light to be right but need to avoid the pretty.

I went through a long Dali phase too when I was 18 and nineteen. I cringe a bit when I see my old drawings. Adolescence eh?
